Our new editor Philla-Mae puts favorite recipes from our members in each issue of News and Views .  We do have some cooks!

 

Between Theresa, Lollie, and Brittany, we’ve got three fabulous new recipes for stroganoff, Swedish Egg Strata, and a Pineapple Dessert!

 

Margaret Myers has found green soybeans in the frozen food department at Publix!  (Go, ladies!)

 

The Thai restaurant closed, but their peanut sauce still tastes wonderful as a dip for  vegetables or poured on rice. 

 

Janet Luhrs, of the Simple Living e-mail newsletters (simplelivingbroadcast1@simplelivingmail.com), likes to make soymilk.  She’s sent a couple of recipes for a berry smoothie and tomato soup.

 

 

 

Quick and Easy: 

 

Dolly Durham, a Floridian friend now in Georgia makes this  “Super(Energy)Sandwich”.  Sounds awful, tastes grrrreat!  And sooo easy!

 

Jack Shaffer’s latest 2-minute pasta bean meal is surprisingly delicious:  2 cans (or 1 large can) spaghettios, 1 large can Bush’s beans (or 2 cans vegetarian baked beans) and 2 cans Best West yellow wax beans.  (You could add onion, but he didn’t.)

Shirley’s rediscovering wheat germ as a salad topping along with flax seed oil.  Yum.

Neda Harrison’s  raw cabbage and peanuts salad (with a vegan dressing) makes a satisfying meal

 

Jean Oliphant’s raw cauliflower salad with quick-cooked frozen peas, shredded raw onion and Vegenaise dressing is irresistible!

Tips and Tricks: 

Jack and Mildred’s cornbread trick:  Melt “butter” over the cornbread in the microwave for thirty seconds, then pour on your honey.  The honey will sink down in and not make a mess.
