Routines and remedies that work for us:
Worship
Memorizing: Ellen Taylor says that when Lacy reads out loud slowly, it helps cement each word in their minds. Ellen has also had success with the bookmarks and cards that show only the first letter from each word of each text. Shirley took her advice and now loves that method but likes the extra clue of a full word thrown in once in awhile. She makes her own memory cards on the computer, using one of the Bible verse software programs such as http://www.biblegateway.com/ Wilhelmina Wilson spends a little time memorizing every day, and it’s amazing how the results add up! Projects: Jenny Pologruto is doing searches on the word topics, Sabbath, seven, and command(ments). Jack and Ross are studying time prophecies and end-time events. Sharing:
Lucy Allard teaches Bible Lessons through the mail. Several of our members teach personal Bible classes by
appointment. Mildred Hawkins may be “shut in” but she’s not “shut out.” Like June Pacitti, Vivienne Redmon and Jean Oliphant who started an ongoing “book club” at Jean’s house a couple of years ago, Mildred’s group meets at her house “Tuesday at Ten” and is reading The Great Controversy. “A good, manageable number in a group is about twelve,” says Jean. “We also enjoy our prayer time (we prayer around the circle, as well as read), and going out to lunch about once a month.” “I get so much more out of a book when we read it together!” says one of her group. “I really enjoy the fellowship,” says another. “And the group prayers.” Bill Thomas goes to Cowboy Junction flea market for literature distribution every week and has a host of adventures! He’s always willing to have a partner ride along, and he’s always got books and magazines, CD’s, tapes, DVD’s and videos to share. Nearly all of our members of who are ambulatory are involved in taking food to shut-ins, running errands, or taking them to doctor appointments. Doug says, “No matter what happens, we never give up!” |

prospereth.”
