What Adventists Believe:

The most important of all Seventh-day Adventist beliefs is the one that brings joy and assurance to Christians everywhere---  the truth about our Heavenly Father that was confirmed at such cost by the life and death of His Son.

We believe that God is not the kind of person His enemies have made Him out to be--- arbitrary, unforgiving and severe.  We accept the testimony of Jesus when He said, "If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father."  God is just as loving and trustworthy as His Son, just as willing to forgive and heal.  Though infinite in majesty and power, our Creator is an equally gracious Person who values nothing higher than the freedom, dignity and individuality of His intelligent creatures--- that their love, their faith, their willingness to listen and obey, may be freely given.  This is the truth revealed through all the books of Scripture.  This is the everlasting Good News that wins the trust and admiration of God's loyal children throughout the universe.

Like Abraham and Moses--- the ones God spoke of as His trusted friends--- we Adventists want to speak well and truly of our Heavenly Father. This is why we have built so many centers of healing around the world. This is why we talk so much about Christ's soon return and why we choose to keep Sabbath on the seventh day.  If friends and neighbors should wonder why, we would consider it a privilege to explain.  We covet as the highest of all commendations the words of God about Job: "He has said of Me what is right."

Devoted to God's love as revealed through the life of Christ and “the Bible and the Bible and the Bible only,"

We accept salvation as a free gift of God's grace, made possible through the sinless life and atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.(Isaiah 53:5,6; John 3:16)  We rejoice in the daily victory over sin offered by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit (Ex. 33:14; Phil. 4:13), grateful that by faith, forgiveness is available to all. (Hab. 2:4; 1 John 2:1,2)

We trust in God as our Creator and Sustainer of all things (Gen. 1:1; John 15:5), a loving Union of three co-eternal Beings ("the Father," "the Son," and "the Holy Spirit" – (Gen. 1:26; Matt. 3:16,17)  Who also reveals Himself to humanity through His inspired Word, the Holy Bible.  (Amos 3:7; John 5:39)  We treasure the Bible and its daily study aided by prayer and guidance from the Holy Spirit. (Psalm 119:105; 2 Tim. 3:16)  For us, God's Bible remains the Christian's only rule of faith and practice. (Psalm 40:8; Rev. 22:18,19)

We appreciate Jesus' current ministry on our behalf in the heavenly sanctuary (Job 16:21; Hebrews 4:14), and anticipate His soon return with full redemption for those who have chosen to be His people(1 John 3:2,3; John 14:1-3).  We take comfort in God's teaching that the faithful who die prior to the Second Coming safely rest in their graves until their resurrection on that day. (Job 19:25,26; 1 Thess. 4:16,17)  We expect the annihilation of the wicked by fire during the executive phase of judgment that ultimately purifies the earth. (Malachi 4:1,3; Rev. 22:3)

We value all spiritual gifts, including the gift of prophecy, as endowed for the edifying of the entire church. (Joel 2:28,29; Eph. 4:8,11; Rev. 12:17; Rev. 19:10) We care for our bodies as temples for the Holy Spirit (Ex. 31:3; 1 Cor. 3:16,17), and enjoy the resulting benefits as a part of true spiritual living (Daniel 1:8,19; 3 John 1:2)   Through a worldwide system of hospitals and training centers we gratefully share as Christ commanded.

We realize that as Christ's ambassadors on this earth our lives should reflect His character. (Ex. 4:12; John 14:15)  We see in the Ten Commandments (Deut. 5:6-21; Ex. 20:3-17) not only a basic standard of righteousness (James 2:10-12;   1 John 2:3-6), but a revelation of God's character in which we are privileged to share. (Jer. 31:33; Acts 4:13) 'We believe His saving grace, which empowers all who are willing to obey His will, extends to the fourth commandment as well, authorizing all to share in His universal Sabbath, the seventh day of every week.(Gen. 2:1,2; Mark 2:27,28; Isaiah 66:23; Luke 23:52-24)  Fervently we desire in our own lives the Christlike behavior which, as fruit of genuine conversion (1 Tim. 2:9,10; Matt. 24:37-44; James 1:27; Ps. 51:9-15), is available by faith on the part of any believer. (Eph. 2:8,9; 1 Cor 2:9; Ez. 36:26,27)

We welcome the fellowship of all who share this fervent desire to please God, know Him better and love Him more(Jude 1:24,25)
